Tastes of Asia in City West

Berlin of course has great German cuisine but many first time visitors are surprised at the range of good quality foreign food available in the city. For guests at the hotel, you are particularly spoilt as not only is the hotel home to Restaurant Le Faubourg – one of the city’s very best French restaurants – but we are also just a stroll away from some of the best Asian food to be found in Berlin.

Kantstrasse in Charlottenburg is Berlin’s unofficial Chinatown, however there’s so much more than just Chinese food! If you need a break from the German and Turkish cuisine you’ve been trying, a night of dining in Kantstrasse will not leave you disappointed. Surprisingly three of the best all share an address at Kanstrasse 3o – so you don’t have to traipse far in the cold to have your pick of great Asian food!

Good Friends Chinese – Kantstrasse 30

Word on the street is that this is beloved by locals as the ‘best Chinese in Berlin’. With such a great selection of Chinese and Cantonese classics, it can be hard to choose just one dish so save this one for a group dinner and order a number of plates to share – maybe with some good friends! It’s hard to go past BBQ duck or pork when you have the chance but with an extensive menu of fish, chicken, lamb, soup, noodles, rice and more, you will certainly find plenty to suit everyone’s taste.

Pho Vietnamese – Kantstrasse 30

Right next door to Good Friends, the huge soup pots on display in the front window of this modern Vietnamese kitchen are enough alone to lure you inside, especially if you are wise to the virtues of an authentic bowl of Vietnamese Phó. However once inside Phó you will can also sample modern takes on Vietnamese classics – from soups to rice paper rolls, noodles to Báhn mî sandwiches. This is a relative newcomer to Kanstrasse, has been getting great press since opening and also has some pretty lush cocktails on offer while you wait.

The chilli wontons should not be missed and the soup’s are huge steaming bowls of magical fragrance and flavour. The perfect food for a cold wintry Berlin night.
