Berlin in May is a delight! With bursts of vibrant colour around every corner, the city is really starting to come alive. Le Faubourg Lounge Bar offers the perfect combination of fine cocktails and great tunes to get you in the mood before you venture out into Berlin’s legendary nightlife. Friday and Saturday nights throughout May, from 9pm till late.
Alisa Mandrovska kicks off our music in May on the back of regular gigs at Odessa bar in Mitte, Vice magazine parties and of course with us in the Lounge Bar. She joins us again on Friday 1st May. Melbourne’s own DJ Cherokee comes to us on Saturday 2nd May. She is no stranger to the Sofitel and performs regularly across Asia, Australia, Europe and the USA.
May 8th and 9th we are joined by DJ Jauche and DJ Valis. Both have played our Lounge Bar before and we love the vibe they bring! Playing on Friday 8th, DJ Jauche has a solid reputation from his legendary residencies at Walfisch in the late 80’s, as well as being the brother of THAT doorman – Sven Marquardt from Berghain. DJ Valis is a regular in some of Berlin’s best bars including Solar, Bar Tausend and Monkey Bar. On Saturday 9th he will do his thing and you can marvel at over two decades worth of skill and mastery. His style? Classic ambient electronica.
Marius Funk’s indie tunes, chilled vibe and disco/pop blends are his calling card. He’s played sets at Galeries Lafayette and Bar Tausend amongst others. Marius is in the Lounge Bar on Friday 15th May, followed by Rufus on Saturday 16th. Blending old school tunes with influences from the Italian electronic music scene and Detroit techno, Rufus works across genres and offers an innovative blend of sound and atmosphere.
On Saturday 22nd, Sarah Miles’ signature blends of beats will set the mood. A regular at Sofitel, she also has a strong presence on the Berlin scene with spots at Tresor and the Farbfernseher as well as a monthly program on Berlin Community Radio. Ekkohaus’ old school approach to house techno blends will definitely get your ready to party. He has played sets across Europe and in Saturday 23rd he’s all ours.
Poland may claim her but Sylwia van der Wonderland has collected layers of sound and inspiration from sets in Amsterdam, London and now Berlin. She has played Suicide Circus, Ritter Butzke, and Kosmonaut locally and plays for us on Friday 29th May. Lounge Bar favourite Hara Katsiki caps off May for us by bringing her signature sound of moody electric blends on Saturday 30th. Her sounds are solid but sexy and laced with memories from heady nights on the Greek Islands and many of Europe’s greatest clubs.
